Earlier this week, several meet attendees including Sarah Snook, LeeAnn Boston, Dan Herrick and Ron Devies were interviewed by WKSU. The feature aired nationally yesterday on NPR and all of it’s member stations, follow the link below to listen to the interviews.

The 2011 PCS meet has kicked-off and many cars have already arrived. See you later this week!

Due to major safety issue regarding the construction project on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway’s track, the railway has canceled all trains until at least the first week of August. This means that we will not be able to ride the vintage railway during the Thursday of the meet. Attendees that paid via PayPal will get a refund via PayPal. Those that paid by check will get a check when they get to the meet. I’m super sorry that we have to pull this from the itinerary at such short notice, but we have no choice. The railway had a very close call on Wednesday afternoon, so they have canceled all train service until further notice.
We have tried to listen to our attendees who have said that they needed a day to chill out during the meet and we’ve tried to help out our members that are wanting to sell things at the meet as well. The new itinerary for Thursday is more laid back and offers time for a swap meet too. The official photo shoot has been moved to this day as well so we have more time to relax on Saturday afternoon.
The new Thursday schedule is as follows:
Morning / early afternoon activities
-Enjoy the time relaxing in the county’s largest hotel swimming pool
-Bean bag toss and ladder golf games in side yard by the parking lot
-Buy/sell/trade procar items during our swap meet
-Purchase a caricature drawing of you or your professional car (tentative)
-Official meet procar photo shoot
3-5pm – PCS board meeting
5-7pm – Dinner on your own
7:30pm-LATE! – Double feature at the Midway Drive-In Movie Theater. We find out the movies that we will be seeing on the Tuesday of the meet. You can stay for one movie or both, but you might want to take a nap during the afternoon because it will be a late (but very fun) night. Remember to bring an FM radio, a chair and some bug spray so we can watch the movies together under the stars.
See you soon!
Just wanted to let you know that the host hotel is officially sold out for the Friday and Saturday nights of our meet. If you need a hotel for those nights, we suggest the Baymont Inn that’s only .2 of a mile down the street. The Baymont’s phone number is: 330-650-2040.
The host hotel, the Clarion Inn, still has space during the week though, so we suggest booking your room at the Clarion first and then moving to the alternate hotel for the weekend portion. You can find info on booking your room at the Clarion here.
Thanks to the 192 of you that have registered so far. If you haven’t registered for the meet yet, we’re getting to a time where you probably should. There’s only 12 tickets left for the trip to Cleveland and 26 left for the Pinner / History of Ambulance Service seminar – plus certain events you have to book two weeks in advance.
This is going to be one awesome meet!!!
At the meet this July, we will be having a model professional car display in the registration room. We will even be awarding peoples’ choice trophies for the attendees’ favorite model professional cars. So when you’re packing up your full size procar for the trip to Ohio, remember to pack your miniature procars too! See you soon!
